Ranjeet (Sanjeev Kumar) and Sharda (Vidya Sinha) meet and fall in love. They get married and have a child but soon their happy family is put under strain when Ranjeet becomes involved with his secretary, Nirmala (Ranjeeta Kaur).
He manages to fool both women, by hiding his affair from his wife and making Nirmala believe he will soon marry her, but as he continues his deceit, the consequences of his actions produce comical results.
