Baarìa explores love and marriage, growing up and growing old, poverty and exploitation and times of peace and war with Peppino at the heart the narrative which follows him from childhood to a secret romance with the beautiful Mannina (Margareth Madè), before his political ascent and personal fight against the mafia.
